Today, I’m proud to announce the launch of Suns Out AI, a new project of Suns Out LLC, a Seattle-based startup building software and services with a privacy-first focus and human-centered design. What does this mean in practice?

We will only build and launch products and services that put users in control of the information they share and store. If it is a cloud-based service, we will provide an easy access solution for deleting your data and viewing or editing the data used to provide you the service. If we can provide services for our tools and apps that run entirely locally, we will. This is one reason we love iOS development – Apple’s onboard intelligence can be used to build smart applications directly on your device without Suns Out AI ever seeing your data. When we build and deploy software and services that rely on using third-party AI models or tools, we will only choose tools and models that don’t train on your data, and we will clearly disclose which APIs we use.

Too many companies see their customers as the product. We’re different. If you choose to purchase or subscribe to any of our products or services, we won’t sell your data or use your data to encourage you to buy other products. Instead, we will see you as a part of a community that deserves respect, honesty, and technology that improves your lives rather than carbolizes your time. Privacy is a human right, and that is core to how we will operate.
